We got a nice early start the next morning, knowing we were on the route and heading for the first large climb of Friday’s stage.
We arrived right at the top of the Col du Granier and it was perfect – a nice large flat parking area that was almost empty.
We were the first campervan there, but as usual more and more joined us throughout the day.

…there was a very large breakaway…
…followed three minutes later by the peloton, and less than seven minutes after they passed we were almost the last ones still there.
A few hours later we were passing through Lyon – not by choice but thanks to Miss GPS – and on our way home.
